The City of Carrizo Springs is accepting applications for the position of Sanitation Truck Driver.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Drives and operates a sanitation/refuse collection truck; coordinates with co-worker for safe operation of equipment; stops at designated residential and/or commercial sites to permit collection of refuse; assists loads as required; empties sanitation vehicle at landfill in accordance with established rules and procedures. Must be able to check and maintain vehicle prior to and following use; conducts and performs routine maintenance; checks fuel level, hydraulic fluid water level and other areas; fuels and maintains fuel-related records and logs; cleans vehicle following use; as assigned, assists other city departments as needed. Must have knowledge of the principles of safe vehicle and equipment operation and use and must also have knowledge of the city's streets, roads, addresses, residential and business areas. Skill in operating a sanitation/refuse collection vehicle preferred. May be exposed to dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, infectious diseases, hazardous chemicals, traffic hazards and other construction-industry and driving related risks and dangers. May be required to lift and/or carry heavy, bulky equipment supplies and/or materials weighing 80 pounds or more.

Performs other duties as assigned or required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A high school diploma or GED AND one year of relevant, responsible work driving/operating trucks, dump trucks and related equipment/vehicle preferred. Must have at the time of application and must maintain a Commercial Driver's License.
