Animal Control

The Animal Control Officer performs a variety of duties associated with the capture, care, well-being and protection of domesticated and wild animals, patrols the city, responds to complaints/inquiries and provides animal care awareness and information material.

The Animal Control Department patrols the city and/or responds to emergencies/complaints/inquiries regarding actual, suspected or potential violations of the City of Carrizo Springs animal control and related codes and ordinances; conducts investigations; provides education and training to citizens and other interested parties regarding relevant codes and ordinances; prepares and maintains files and records associated with calls and activities; issues warnings and citations; testifies in court; picks up and impounds stray animals and those needing protection; determines and, as appropriate, arranges for animal quarantine; provides public education and related information to schools, civic groups and others; and works with law enforcement and other agencies to coordinate related clothing, protection and instruments.

Animal Bites

Texas Department of Health regulations require that animal bites be reported within 24 hours of their occurrence. If a report needs to be made after hours, please contact the Sheriff's Department at (830) 876-3508 or, for an emergency, call 911.

Deceased Animals

Should you see a deceased animal on the roadway, please report it as soon as possible so that it may be removed.
