Job Notice

MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE (Part Time/Contracted)

The City of Carrizo Springs is accepting applications for the position of Municipal Judge. This position is located in the City of Carrizo Springs Municipal Court Building located at 204 East Nopal Street, Carrizo Springs, Texas 78834.

The term will begin August 2023 and expires on August 31, 2025, with a minimum of 20 hours per week Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.    

GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs professional judicial duties as the Municipal Court Judge for the municipal courts of Carrizo Springs. The judge acts in the interpretation, application and enforcement of local ordinances and applicable State laws. The judge shall perform these duties by presiding over the municipal court sessions (including pre-trials, trials, hearings and other judicial proceedings) and functioning as a magistrate.

This position shall be authorized and appointed by the Mayor and City Council. The municipal judge shall be compensated as determined and approved by the City Council.

Requirements and stipulations included in the City’s Charter, Code of Ordinances, Personnel Manual, or in State Law shall supersede any statement within this description.
