PARADE AND POOL UPDATE
Dimmit County recently reported the fourth active case of COVID-19, the disease caused by the Coronavirus, in the County. It has been deemed that these cases are associated with community spread of the virus. Due to the increases in community spread throughout the United States, all individuals are at some risk of exposure to COVID-19. As a result, in the uptick of cases in our community, the City of Carrizo Springs leaders believe there is far greater health risk than reward in having the Annual 4th of July parade, and as a result the parade has been canceled.
Secondly, as we navigate moving forward, the decision has also been made to not open the community pool as a safety precaution, to help prevent the risk of exposure and possible spread of COVID-19 in our community.
Friendly reminder of things everyone can do to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:
Wash your hands often with soap and water for al least 20 seconds. If soap is not available, use an alcohol-based sanitizer
Avoid touching your nose, mouth, and eyes with unwashed or sanitized hands
Stay home when you are sick
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then wash your hangs
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
Wear a mask or another face covering
Practice social distancing
Minimizing exposure in our community is especially important for those who are 65 or older in our community or who also might have underlying health conditions, like heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, high blood pressure or even cancer. During these times, there are some tough decisions which need to be made, but just know that each of these decisions have been vetted and are in the best interest of the health and well-being of all residents in our community.
